Donside Doers - Riverside Reclaim
July 22, 2017, 10:30am - July 22, 2017, 4:30pm
Following popular demand, we have set up this volunteer day for the Doers of Donside to come out in force and help to reclaim our riverside path! Many hands make lite work :)
We'll be about all day so, don't think you're signing up to graft for a full day. Come along for as little or as long as you can manage / want to. There will also be other tasks on hand, like tree nurturing, screen cleaning, and much more besides.
Ps... If we get enough people, then maybe we could organise a wee BBQ or something?... weather depending...
Pps... you don't have to be from Donside to enjoy / assist :p
Reclaiming our riverside path. Anyone keen to help? ...
Mark and I did a little work this weekend to start to reclaim the riverside path. The improvement is starkly clear! It's actually a decent width path. But, being slowly lost. Which is not good for busier times and those on wheels, be they cyclists, buggies or those with disabilities. But, we can't do this alone. So, if anyone is keen to help with this task, please reply and we can make a mini team to tackle it! :)
Yet another great moment in our hydro story! Aberdeen Community Energy and Quids In Theatre Company have put together a show called "The River" It tells the story of the section of the River Don where it passes through Tillydrone. The performance takes the story from the earliest settlers on the river, through Jacobite times, the industrial past of the river and finishing with the construction of the the Donside Hydro and looking to the future.
The performance includes, drama, dance and even an original pipe tune written to celebrate the river.
As someone who has an interest in our story, we would like you to be a part of this, and join us for the performance.
Performances will be at 6.30 and 7.30 On Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th June. The performance is a "promenade" piece which takes place at a number of areas of the hydro site. ...
First rehearsal down by the Don. Looking good! Only a few tickets left so get yours from a member of the cast or at www.eventbrite.co uk. Tickets are FREE but must be booked in advance so no excuse.
